Master of Science in Information Technology [MScIT]
 
 
Information Technology architecture is an integrated framework for acquiring and evolving IT to achieve strategic goals. It has both Logical and Technical components. Logical components include mission, functional and information requirements, system configurations, and information flows. Technical components include IT standards and rules that will be used to implement the logical architecture. It’s a convenient term for including both telephony and computer technology in the same word. It is the technology that is driving what has often been called "The Information Revolution". MScIT is a course of 6 semesters with a provision of multiple exit degree with respect to the qualifications & conditions. Based on that system various options are presented here. The first two semesters of MScIT are considered as Foundation Course and are the must for fresh students. The First and the Second semesters aim at preparing a graduate to take on the responsibilities of handling computers in large industries. Students will be exposed to the latest trends in programming languages and RDBMS. After completion of Second semester of MScIT students will be awarded the PG Diploma in InformationTechnology(PGDIT). In the Third and Fourth semesters students will be exposed to the latest trends in Digital Telecommunications, Broadband and Wireless Mobile Communications. After completion of the Fourth semester students will be awarded the PG Diploma in Telecom Technology (PGDTT). In the Fifth and Final semesters, candidates will be exposed to the Advanced Software Applications, e-Business and Intelligent Systems.After successful completion of course students will be awarded the MScIT degree.

 
 
Objectives : This course provides the student to learn a wide variety of processes dealing with Writing Software, Designing Web- based Applications, Prevention of Computer Hacking, how to manage Local or Wide Area Networks, or the latest Hardware or Software product on the market.

 
 
Eligibility : 3 year graduation or equivalent

Min. Duration : 3 Years(6 Semesters)

Max. Duration : 6 Years
Semester Fee: Rs 10,700/- per semester inclusive of examination fees or as revised from time to time.

Provision for lateral entry to Second Semester of MScIT.

Eligibility:

  • 3 year Graduation from a recognized university and six month computer course from a reputed institution.

OR

  • BCA/Bsc(CS/AIT/IT)/BE/B.Tech from a recognized university.

Additional Fees: In addition to the normal fees, an additional lateral entry fee of Rs 3800/- (including examination fees) is payable by the students opting for this scheme.

Note: In this lateral entry scheme, students have to appear and pass the first semester examination. Books of first semester will be supplied by the Institute and internal assessment will be completed at the Institute.

Provision for Re-entry into third semester of MScIT:

Eligibility: PGDIT of SMU (Revised FALL 2005)

Min Duration: 1 year (2 Semesters)

Max Duration: 2 years

Semester Fee: Rs 10,700/- per semester inclusive of examination fees or as revised from time to time.
